2 colors Simply Soft yarn..I used (A) hot pink
and (B) white
G hook and a tapestry needle to sew together
MAIN BODY OF HAT
Do not join any rounds. I keep up with my row

each row it will say "mark".

**Changing
color..holding 2 loops on last st in row yo second color and finish sc*** color
change made. Do not cut your yarn but drah along the edge as you change colors.
With color A ch
12.
Row 1: Working in top of ch, sc in top of each ch
across. 11 scs in each row.
Row 2: Sc in each st across, holding yarn tightly
(do not cut) change color.
Do not let your color change
leave a larger st or LIMP loop
alongside the brim.
Row 3: Sc in each st across. 11 scs
Row 4: Sc in each st across, change color. 11 scs
REPEAT ROWS 3 AND 4
UNTIL YOUR BRIM MEASURES THE SAME AS YOUR HAT.
THEN CONTINUE WITH ROWS UNTIL YOU HAVE A 3" OVERLAP. SO IF YOUR HAT IS 18" MAKE THE BRIM 21
" LONG. BE SURE THE LAST COLOR IS
NOT THE SAME AS THE FIRST! LEAVE A LONG
PIECE OF YARN TO GATHER BRIM AND CUT YOUR YARN.
WORKING ON THE SIDE
THE COLOR CHANGES ARE MADE. THREAD THE
TAIL IN YOUR TAPESTRY NEEDLE. LOOK AT
EACH LITTLE HUMP YOUR COLORS MAKE, YOU WILL SEE 2 SMALL HOLES, THREAD THE TAIL THROUGH
EACH SET AROUND. PULL THE THREAD UNTIL
IT GATHERS SLIGHTLY AND IS THE SAME SIZE AS THE HAT. BE SURE OF SIZE, THIS IS CRITICAL TO THE
FIT. PULL THROUGH ONE TIME TO
ANCHOR. DO NOT TIE OFF TIGHTLY IN CASE
YOU NEED TO EASE THE THREAD! I made
this mistake and had to remove the entire brim and start over with this
process!! LEAVE A LONG TAIL AND CUT.
Thread your tapestry
needle once again. Join brim where you
ended your hat. Place the side of the
brim with the color changes against your hat with right sides facing. Whip stitch your brim to your hat. Do not pull the stitches tightly as this will
give your hat a buckled look, just nice and even. Place your hat on a flat surface, the brim
should flare out nicely. If it does slst
your brim piece together picking up the appropriate stitches to make it look
like the rest of the brim.
BAND
With color of your
choice ch 67, sl st together being sure not to twist. Slip over the hat to see if it fits. At this point add one or two sts or remove to
fit to hat. When you have your
adjustment just right continue.
Row 1: Ch 1, hdc in each ch around, mark this round,
do not join.
Rows 2, 3, and
4: hdc in back loop only around, marking
at end of each round. On round 4 sl st
two times and finish off.
Thread your tapestry
needle with opposite color than band.
Attach brim to hat stitching over the join and making sure your stitches
are even around so they are attractive.
When sewn down finish off and weave in all ends.
ROLLED AFRICAN FLOWER
Chain 33
row1: Dc
in the 4th ch from hook, ch 1, 2 dc in same ch, skip 1 chain, in next ch *2 dc,
ch1, 2 dc*, across entire chain.. 15 sets.
Turn
Row 2: Sl
st to first ch 1 space, ch 3, 6 dc in same space, *sl st in sp between sets, 7
dc in next ch 1 space* across. At the end sl st into the bottom ch to pull
the flower petal down. Leave a long tail for sewing and cut yarn.
WITH CONTRASTING COLOR SC INTO EACH DC, SL ST
TIGHTLY BETWEEN PETALS.
FOLD THE LAST 2 PETALS TOGETHER AND TACK
DOWN. ROLL THE REST OF THE PETALS
TOGETHER, USE THE TAIL YOU LEFT TO SEW
TOGETHER. ATTACH YOUR FLOWER TO HAT, PLACING AT JOIN OF BRIM SO THAT THE FLOWER
COVERS ANY FLAWS IN JOIN ;-).
DONE!
